Each year, usually in early December invite older tenants to a free Christmas lunch and party.
For some, its the only Christmas lunch they get and its a chance for all to get festive and meet up with neighbours and friends to enjoy mince pies. a raffle and music and entertainment.
Arranged by the Octavia Foundation and supported by generous neighbouring businesses, all the guests enjoy a hot roast dinner, mulled wine, a goodie bag to take home and some good company.
Mary Weltch (local resident and guest at last year's party) said:
“I’ve had the most grand day. I am 90 years old so I don’t get out much but I’ve really enjoyed today.”
Local resident Maureen Harrop also enjoyed the event:
“I’ve been an Octavia tenant ever since I moved to London - for over twenty years. I love it here. Octavia are so good. It’s been a really enjoyable day and we’ve had a laugh. I think the children sang beautifully - I can’t sing at all!”
