We appreciate that this remains a very difficult and distressing time for you, and we will continue to support all residents with access to meals, clothing, and other essentials.  

The Octavia Foundation team has produced a list of further support available in your community that can help with food, clothing, household items and wellbeing support. 

They have also sourced a number of community projects that free activities for young people.

Free local activities 

Boxpark Wembley - The Kid's Table

Starting on Sunday 11 February, Boxpark Wembley are holding a free arts and crafts session between 12pm – 4pm, which will take place on every Sunday (except major event days). The event is first come, first served and is free entry. Find out more here.

Free swimming for under 16s

Willesden Sports Centre and Vale Farm Sports Centre hold free swimming sessions during school holidays. Find out more here:

Basketball for under 17s

St Augustine's Sports Centre are holding basketball sessions Monday to Friday for under 17s. The sessions are free for all children eligible for free school meals.

Wellbeing and mental health 

Brent Talking Therapies / Brent IAPT

This is a free, confidential NHS service for those over the age of 18 seeking support for their mental health. The service provides treatment which involves talking to a trained professional about your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Talking therapy can help you to work through feelings of depression, anxiety and stress, helping you to understand where they come from and how you can manage them.

You can refer yourself for talking therapy by phoning 020 8206 3924, or using the online self-referral on the Central and North West London Talking Therapies Service website.

Barnardo’s Out of Hours Family Support – Brent 

For families requiring support out of office hours, you are advised to contact The Brent Out of Hours Family Support Line at Tel: 0800 158 2358.  This support line offers Family Support and Early Help Services on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 6-10pm, and Saturday and Sunday 10am-5pm.  This service is available to all families living in the London Borough of Brent. They also offer a webchat service here. 

Brent Family Wellbeing Centres 

The Brent Family Wellbeing Centres offer a wide range of free health, education and welfare services for families. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

Brent CAMHS is a mental and emotional health specialist service for children and young people (up to 18 years old). Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

Brent Cove Drop-in 

Brent Cove Drop-in Service is a service for residents of Brent, over the age of 16, who are experiencing a mental health crisis. The service strives to be The aim is to support service users to reduce their immediate anxiety and crisis, and help them to create a safety plan using their strengths, skills, resilience and coping mechanisms to continue their journey towards recovery.

Food support 

Sufra Brent 

Sufra provide a range of services for those experiencing financial hardship and lacking facilities to prepare their own meals. This includes: 

  1. Free hot meals - an open to all hot meal drop-in café, free of charge on: 
  •  Monday and Tuesday 6-8pm at Bridge Park Leisure Centre, Harrow Road, NW10 0RG 
  • Wednesday 6-8pm at Ark Academy, Cecil Avenue, HA9 7DU 
  • Thursday and Friday service in NW6.

2. Foodbank – providing emergency supplies of essential food and toiletries to people experiencing acute crisis. These take place on Tuesday and Thursday 11am-3pm at Sufra NW London, 160 Pitfield Way, NW10 0PW

Foodcycle Wembley 

Foodcycle Wembley provide free warm meals to the community on Tuesdays from 6.30pm at Park Lane Methodist Church, Park Lane, Wembley, London, HA9 7SG. All are welcome. Find more information here.

Brent Foodbank

Brent Foodbank are offering to provide boxes of food and toiletries to any households impacted by the fire.  

These can be collected from any of their three sites on Wednesdays 1-3pm, however their closest is Kingsbury Centre, Lindsay Park Baptist Church, The Mall, Kenton, London, HA3 9T. 

Please contact foodbank.referrals@octaviafoundation.org.uk with your name, address and contact number and we can make a referral into this service. 

Clothing and toys

Little Village Brent 

Little Village provide clothes, equipment, toys, and everyday essentials for families with young children (under 5). 

The service is open Monday to Friday, 10am-3pm, from NCLE Building, 7 Park Lane, Wembley, HA97RH. 

Service users can visit Little Village to identify items that would be a help to them and then Little Village will deliver free of charge. You can also speak to your Housing Lead if you would like us to make a referral to this service for you. 

Brent Family Wellbeing Service 

The Brent Family Wellbeing Centres are free to use by families that live in Brent. The service can provide access to grants, clothes, advice and support with furniture and other household essentials.  

The closest centres to Elm Rd are:  

  • Alperton Family Wellbeing Centre, Ealing Rd, Wembley, HA0 4PW  
  • Preston Park Family Wellbeing Centre, College Rd, Wembley, HA9 8RJ 
  • Willow SEND Community Wellbeing Centre, Barnhill Rd, Wembley, HA9 9DF  

All Centres are open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and offer a walk-in service. First time users will be required to register and provide ID.
