Welcome to Octavia Housing
Sulgrave Gardens is Octavia’s flagship housing scheme set in a tree-lined suburban street in Shepherds Bush. Today it not only received recognition as one of the top 50 Affordable developments in the UK (Inside Housing), but was also voted as one of the top 5 most sustainable projects on the prestigious list.
This news comes in the same month as homes on the scheme were also officially awarded a Quality approved Passivhaus certificate, confirming that it is the largest Passivhaus development in the Capital.
Alan Johnson MP described the value and importance of social housing at an event organised by Octavia for tenants and local stakeholders.
Alan Johnson MP was interviewed by Guardian journalist Hannah Pool on 2 April about his experiences of growing up in the Notting Hill area in social housing in the 1950s and 60s.
“Housing associations saved us, they were the only ethical landlord at the time [1950's] – run on a basis of trying to help people rather than profit from them. There was no hope at all of getting your own home back then. There is an even bigger role for Housing associations like Octavia today.”
