Transfers
Locata Transfer System
We aim to provide tenants on our transfer list with more choice about the home they move to. Instead of offering empty homes exclusively to people at the top of our transfer list, we will advertise our vacancies and invite you to bid for them.
This service is provided by a ‘choice-based' letting scheme known as locata. To find our more information visit the locata website
What to do if you want to transfer
You will need to complete a transfer application form. Once we have received this we will assess your application and you will be awarded a locata banding.
The banding will allow you to bid for properties that are advertised every 2 weeks on the locata website and free newsletter.
To obtain a transfer application form or to find out more, please contact Customer Services on 020 8354 5500 and ask to be put through to the lettings team.
Am I eligible for transfer?
As there is such a shortage of homes in London, only a small number of properties become available and, unfortunately it can sometimes take years, particularly if you need a larger property. You can apply for a transfer to another property if:
- You are a permanent tenant with a secure or assured tenancy
- You have held the tenancy for at least 12 months
Other ways that could help you find a new home
Buying a home may be more affordable than you think. There are a number of schemes designed to help first-time buyers onto the property ladder. These include schemes where you can part buy, part rent a property and some schemes particularly aimed at helping key workers.
See information on low cost home ownership.
If you know of someone else who is looking for a move and who is interested in swapping homes with you, you can opt for a mutual exchange. To do this you need to find a suitable partner to exchange with then apply formally to Octavia (and your partners landlord). Once both landlords have formally agreed to the exchange taking place you can complete the legal steps to become the tenant of your new property.
See information on mutual exchanges.
