This was a 3-week workshop that consists of 2 courses delivered as one continuous training package for which Octavia partnered the Centre for Jobs and Opportunities (CJO) (Westminster) in May 2002 and North Kensington Opportunities Centre (NKOC) (RBKC) in April 2003.

The 2 workshops were advertised in a range of location and were attended by 15 local residents in total with of those being Octavia tenants.

The workshop has two main aims:

1. The Steps Motivation element encourages each participant to analyse their individual needs, perceptions of themselves, experience, skills and ultimately their motivations. Their individual barriers to work are addressed, e.g. childcare needs, salary levels, and benefit implications. The aim is to give the potential job seeker the confidence to begin looking for work.
2. The NCFE element concentrates solely on arming participants with the skills to secure employment, from where to look for openings through the application stage and on to interview techniques, including video-recorded role-play.
   

The reciprocal nature of the relationship developed with the two delivery organisations has benefited other Octavia tenants who have attended other courses run independently by both organisations.
