Working with Photoworks Westminster on a photography project
In partnership with Photoworks Westminster, we have developed a project to give a group of young people an opportunity to learn first hand the art of photography through working very closely with a professional photographer.
The aim of the project is to develop a short booklet of photographs of some of Octavia's Muslim tenants, their families and children. The main aim of this project is to counter Islamophobia and seek to inform non-Muslim tenants by simple means of the normal and ordinary values of their neighbours. In addition, we will develop photographic skills of up to 8 young tenants.
The project has already started, and a group of young tenants are currently being trained, and some of them have already taken their first pictures.
All pictures will be exhibited early next year.
