Adaptations

Some people need to have their accommodation adapted to enable them to live independently and to access all the amenities of their home. Octavia Housing are keen to play an active role in supporting tenants in this process. We provide major and minor adaptations depending on what each residents needs.

This is sometimes more complicated than just a simple home repair or improvement. For example some major adaptations that we provide are:

  • replacing a bath with a walk in shower
  • fitting a stairlift
  • adapting a home for wheelchair use

All major adaptations require involvement from a health professional to ensure that the right works are done. We work closely with local occupational therapists to get the best service we can for our tenants. If you require a minor adaptation to your home such as a grab rail to help your mobility, this can normally be achieved within ten working days.

Please contact our Adaptations Coordinator to talk about your needs.  If you require more major adaptations then we need to arrange an assessment by an occupational therapist before any work can start.

Octavia housing pay for minor adaptations. Major adaptations are alsosometimes funded by us or we can apply for a DFG (Disabled Facilities Grant) on your behalf depending on the works needed. You will not be responsible for payment whichever form of funding is used.
